Your teeth may stay healthy and beautiful for a long time if you properly maintain oral hygiene. Proper oral care will help to prevent tooth decay, periodontal (gingivitis and periodontitis) and other oral diseases. The aim of professional oral hygiene is to remove calculus (hard deposits) and plaque (soft deposits), improve gum condition, reduce teeth sensitivity, refresh oral cavity, and prevent periodontal and other gum diseases.

Unique, innovative! Laser Decontamination – a new procedure to your professional oral hygiene treatment to help fight periodontal disease

During personal oral hygiene, when you are brushing your teeth daily yourself – in your mouth remain spaces that are hard to reach and clean with a regular toothbrush – interdental spaces, perio-pockets, especially in the area of molars. Eventually dental plaque starts accumulating - the soft tenacious material found on tooth surface which is not readily removed by rinsing with water. It is estimated that 1 mm² of dental plaque, weighing about 1mg, will contain more than 200 million bacteria, but only few have the ability to colonize a newly cleaned tooth surface. After cleaning dental deposits properly bacteria and microorganisms that causes oral diseases: gum inflammation, carious enamel lesions, under which bacteria can reproduce and periodontitis develop, will not form for a longer time on a tooth surface.

How professional oral hygiene is performed?

In VivaDens, before professonal oral hygiene laser decontamination is performed.

During professional oral hygiene treatment teeth calculus is removed by ultrasonic scaler, and those that accumulated deeper – manually with special instruments: curretes, hooks.

Hard and soft plaque is removed by using one of the newest methods of removing dental deposits – “Air Flow” method. “Air flow” method delivers a controlled stream of fine calcium bicarbonate particles to the tooth surface through water spray and compressed air. Calcium bicarbonate is harmless and non-toxic material that neutralizes acids and cleans dental plaque from rough dental surfaces, interdental spaces as well as from smooth teeth surfaces. By “Air flow” method dental plaque is cleaned quickly and effectively. The method is special because teeth surface is affected through a distance and thus hard teeth tissues and gums are not harmed. “Air flow” is very effective and teeth saving method to clean plaque that accumulate on teeth because of smoking, usage of coloring food products: black tea, coffee and similar.

After cleaning plaque and calculus, teeth from all sides are polished with special brushes, pastes and rubber discs. Dental surfaces polished in that way are more resistant to plaque and calculus accumulation. Besides, interdental spaces are cleaned with dental floss. In case of gum inflammation – gum pockets are rinsed with disinfecting liquids. In case it is necessary, fluor is applied. The clients are introduced with individually suitable oral care means.

After professional oral hygiene, teeth regain their natural color, inflammatory gums heal, freshness is felt in a mouth.

Professional care of direct aesthetic restorations

6-12 months after direct aesthetic restoration it is advisable to come for a professional oral hygiene procedure. During the procedure a professional oral hygienist who is especially trained how to perform hygiene for aesthetically restored teeth and who uses instruments, toothpastes designed for this purpose, will inform you about condition of aesthetic restorations, will see whether you use right teeth care means, will advise and if it is necessary (in case a restorations surface isn’t glossy) will polish your teeth.

Professional care of teeth restored on implants

In case you don’t sufficiently take care of teeth restored on implants – plaque and bacteria start accumulating and that may cause inflammation of soft tissues surrounding a dental implant. Constant inflammation of tissues may eventually cause rejection of dental implant. To avoid that it is advisable for those who have dental implants at least once a year to undergo professional oral hygiene procedure. For professional care of teeth restored on implants, curretes made out of special material that don’t scratch implant surface are used. Professional oral hygienist without harming gums will clean plaque from a dental implant, will advice how properly maintain care of your teeth and will recommend proper oral hygiene means suitable for teeth restored on implants.
